Three arrangements, one approach.

our method

How we approach care at Willowmere.

Every arrangement at Willowmere begins the same way: with a conversation. We want to understand the person who is coming to us, and the family around them, before any decision is made. That conversation helps us assess whether what we offer is genuinely right for the individual — and it gives families the information they need to decide with confidence.

Once a person joins us, their care is shaped around what we have learned about them — not slotted into a pre-existing model. Care plans are written, reviewed, and adjusted over time. Staff are briefed on individual preferences, habits, and medical requirements. The aim is that each day is as settled and comfortable as we can make it.

01

Initial conversation

We speak with the family by telephone or in person, understand the situation, and explain honestly what we can and cannot offer.

02

Visit and assessment

Families and prospective residents are encouraged to visit before any decision. We also carry out an informal needs assessment to understand care requirements.

03

Placement and settling in

The first weeks are managed carefully. Staff introduce themselves, preferences are noted, and families are kept in contact as the resident settles.

04

Ongoing care and review

Care is reviewed regularly. Families are updated, care plans adjusted when needed, and any concerns are addressed promptly and directly.

Long-Stay Residential Living

A long-stay arrangement for older adults who are no longer comfortable living alone and would value a settled home in which their daily care is attended to with patience. The residence is staffed twenty-four hours a day, with a registered nurse present during daytime hours and on call overnight.

  • Private room with personal care support as required
  • Three meals prepared daily in-house
  • 24-hour staffing with nurse on day duty
  • Written care plan developed and reviewed with family
  • Access to garden room and outdoor garden daily

Short Respite Stay

A short stay arrangement of two to six weeks, intended to give family carers a period of rest while a relative is cared for in a settled environment. Respite residents share fully in the daily life of the residence — meals, gardens, the morning sitting room — and are supported by the same care team that supports long-stay residents.

Families are welcome to visit at any reasonable hour. The respite arrangement is also useful for families who are considering a longer placement and would like their relative to experience the residence first.

  • Two to six week duration (minimum two weeks)
  • Full access to all communal areas and the garden
  • Same care team as long-stay residents
  • Families welcome to visit at reasonable hours
  • Can be extended or transition to long-stay if appropriate
